OSMTH Member Grand Priories’ Charitable Donations

The charitable activities of OSMTH are primarily carried out by our Member Grand Priories (National Member Associations), and by their associated charitable foundations, in support of a wide range of international, national, and local humanitarian aid programs and charitable causes.

The approximate combined totals of charitable donations, as reported over recent years by the Member Grand Priories of OSMTH, are:

  • 2022: 2,594,356 Euros (= approximately 2,748,258 US Dollars) *
  • 2021: 1,271,478 Euros (= approximately 1,423,056 US Dollars)
  • 2020: 1,246,000 Euros (= approximately 1,522,000 US Dollars)
  • 2019: 1,137,000 Euros (= approximately 1,276,000 US Dollars)
  • 2018: 988,000 Euros (= approximately 1,136,000 US Dollars)
  • 2017: 1,475,000 Euros (= approximately 1,770,000 US Dollars)
  • 2016: 1,211,000 Euros (= approximately 1,274,000 US Dollars)

* The 2022 figures include a substantial humanitarian aid program for Ukraine.

Charitable Programs of the International Association of OSMTH

Regular Annual International Donations Program for the Holy Land and the wider Middle East

Since 2020, OSMTH has been fortunate to be able to build up the Order’s international financial reserves which allow our Order to fund a regular annual 10,000 Euros International Donations Program of 5 grants each of 2,000 Euros (approximately 2,100 US Dollars). The budget for, and the recipients of, the International Donations Program are reviewed by the OSMTH Grand Magistral Council each year.
The International Donations Program is designed to further the following Object set out in OSMTH’s International Statutes, which is:

  • to encourage and promote Christian humanitarian work and charity generally, but especially in support of people in the Middle East. and to align with the international policy positions of OSMTH, as set out in the Actions Plan of the Brussels Declaration: OSMTH Brussels Declaration The current regular recipient organisations of the International Donations Program are:
  • Evangelical Lutheran Church Baptismal Site: support for day-to-day running costs of the Bethany-beyond-Jordan church & retreat center in Jordan Link for more information: Lutheran Baptismal

  • Friends of the Holy Land: educational and financial support, and clean water provision, for local Christian communities in Israel and the Palestinian Authority Territories Link for more information: Friends of the Holy Land
  • The HALO Trust: provision of prosthetics for individuals injured by mines or war debris in Syria and funding for war debris clearance in Nagorno Karabakh Link for more information: The Halo Trust

Emergency International Humanitarian Relief Donations Program

Since 2020, as and when additional financial reserves are available, the OSMTH Grand Magistral Council funds an Emergency International Humanitarian Relief Donations Program in order to respond to civil crises, outbreaks of conflict, and natural disasters. Following the disastrous explosion which devastated the port and city centre of Beirut on 4 August 2020, and the associated economic crisis and social dislocation in Lebanon, OSMTH allocated a total of 12,500 Euros (approximately 13,400 US Dollars) through Humanitarian Relief Donations in 2020 and 2021 to the following organisations:

  • The Maronite Archdiocese of Beirut & the 4 HOPE Foundation: repairs and restoration of homes and provision of day-to-day household necessities. Maronite Archdicese of Beirut
